Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK GROUND CONNECTION
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check ground connection E21. Refer to Ground Inspection in
"CIRCUIT INSPECTION
".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: Repair or replace ground connection.
- CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR RELAY INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT-I
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connector and ground.
ECM Ground Condition Voltage Connector Terminal F7 2 Ground Ignition switch OFF Approx. 0 V Ignition switch ON Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 9.
NO: GO TO 3.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connector and ground.
- CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR RELAY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.
IPDM E/R ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E13 32 F7 15 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 5.
NO: GO TO 4.
- DETECT MALFUNCTION PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E7, F121
- Harness for open or short between ECM and IPDM E/R
: Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR RELAY INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT-II
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.
IPDM E/R ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E15 52 F7 2 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 7.
NO: GO TO 6.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.
- DETECT MALFUNCTION PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E7, F121
- Harness for open or short between ECM and IPDM E/R
: Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK FUSE
- Disconnect 20 A fuse (No. 61) from IPDM E/R. For the fuse number, refer to "WIRING DIAGRAM - ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM - ". For the fuse arrangement, refer to "FUSE, CONNECTOR AND TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT ".
- Check it 20 A fuse is blown.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 8.
NO: Replace 20 A fuse.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
NO: Repair or replace harness or connectors.
- CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR OUTPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN OR SHORT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between electric throttle control actuator harness connector and ECM harness connector.
Electric throttle control actuator ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F29 5 F7 5 Not existed 6 Existed 6 5 Existed 6 Not existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 10.
NO: Repair or replace.
- CHECK ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR VISUALLY
- Remove the intake air duct. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
- Check if foreign matter is caught between the throttle valve (1) and the housing.
- <= Vehicle front
- Electric throttle control actuator (2)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 11.
NO: Remove the foreign matter and clean the electric throttle control actuator inside.
- CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 12.
NO: GO TO 13.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 13.
NO: Repair or replace harness or connectors.
- REPLACE ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR
Replace malfunction electric throttle control actuator. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
