DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If a DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test. Ensure battery voltage is more than 11 volts with ignition on.
NOTE: The following test may be performed with drive wheels lifted or by road testing vehicle.
  1. Start engine (VDC switch off). Read VHCL SPEED SE in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. If VHCL SPEED SE exceeds 6 MPH (10 km/h) when rotating wheels at more than 6 MPH (10 km/h), go to next step. If VHCL SPEED SE does not exceed 6 MPH (10 km/h) when rotating wheels at more than 6 MPH (10 km/h), go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .
  2. Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Maintain the following conditions for at least 50 consecutive seconds:
    • ENG SPEED: 1700-6000 RPM.
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: more than 158°F (70°C).
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: 5.5-31.8 milliseconds.
    • Selector lever: except "P" or "N" position.
    • PW/ST SIGNAL: OFF.

If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
