DTC Confirmation Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If a DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting next test.
NOTE: This test may be conducted with the drive wheels lifted in the shop or by driving vehicle. If a road test is expected to be easier, it is unnecessary to lift vehicle.
  1. Start engine (VDC switch off).
  2. Select DATA MONITOR mode with scan tool.
  3. Drive vehicle for at least 5 consecutive seconds at more than 19 MPH (30 km/h) with gear selector lever in appropriate position. If 1st trip DTC is not detected, go to next step. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .
  4. Drive vehicle for at least 5 consecutive seconds at more than 19 MPH (30 km/h) with selector lever in appropriate position. Depress brake pedal for more than 5 seconds so as not to go less than 19 MPH (30 km/h). If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
