DTC Confirmation Test (Using Generic Scan Tool)

CAUTION: Never remove fuel filler cap during DTC confirmation procedure.
NOTE: If DTC P1448 is also set, diagnose that DTC first. See DTC P1448: EVAP CANISTER VENT CONTROL VALVE OPEN .
NOTE: Make sure that EVAP hoses are connected to EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve properly.
NOTE: Perform DTC WORK SUPPORT when the fuel level is between 1/4 to 3/4 full and vehicle is placed on flat level surface. Open engine hood before conducting the following procedures.
  1. Start engine. Drive vehicle according to driving pattern. See Figure. Stop vehicle.
  2. Select MODE 1 with GST. If System Readiness Test (SRT) of EVAP system is not set yet, go to the next step. If SRT of EVAP system is set, the result will be OK.
  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
  4. Start engine. It is not necessary to cool engine down before driving.
  5. Drive vehicle again according to driving pattern. See Figure. Stop vehicle.
  6. Select MODE 3 with GST.
    • If DTC P0455 is displayed on the screen, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
    • If DTC P0442 is displayed on the screen, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  of DTC P0442: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM SMALL LEAK DETECTED (NEGATIVE PRESSURE).
    • If DTC P0441 is displayed on the screen, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  of DTC P0441: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM INCORRECT PURGE FLOW.
    If DTCs P0456, P0442 and P0441 are not displayed on the screen, go to the next step.
  7. Select MODE 1 with GST. If SRT of EVAP system is set, the result will be OK. If SRT of EVAP system is not set, go to step  4
