DTC Confirmation Test (Without CONSULT-II)
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of EGRC-BPT valve. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
- Install vacuum gauge in hose between EGR valve and EGRC-BPT valve. Raise and support vehicle with drive wheels off the ground. Start engine. Shift transmission into 1st gear.
- Observe vacuum gauge while engine speed is at 2400-3200 RPM. Vacuum should be 0-5.91 in. Hg. If vacuum is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If vacuum is specified, go to next step.
- Check for EGR valve lifting while increasing engine speed quickly from 2000-4000 RPM. EGR valve should lift, then go down without sticking when engine is returned to idle. If operation is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If operation is as specified, system is okay at this time.
