Function Test
- Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR/EVAP solenoid valve at EGRC-BPT valve. Disconnect fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose at intake manifold port. Route a hose from intake manifold port to EGRC-BPT port (previously disconnected). EGRC-BPT valve should now be connected to intake manifold vacuum.
- Start engine and run at 1500 RPM (no load). EGR valve should remain closed. Increase engine speed to 2000-4000 RPM. EGR valve should open and close smoothly. If EGR valve does not operate as specified, go to next step.
- EGRC-BPT Component Test
Remove EGRC-BPT valve. Plug one of 2 ports on top of valve. See Figure. Connect a vacuum pump to remaining port on top of valve. Apply 3.94 In. H(2)0 (.981 kPa) pressure to port on bottom of valve. Valve should hold vacuum when other port is plugged and pressure applied to bottom port. If leakage is detected, replace EGRC-BPT valve.
