Radiator (Cooling) Fan High Speed Control Test: Turbo

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect radiator fan sub-relay. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and radiator fan sub-relay terminal No. 2 (Green/White wire) and No. 3 (Purple wire). Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is present, go to step 3).
  2. If battery voltage is not present, check Red fusible link located in fusible link box next to battery. Replace fusible link as necessary. Check 10-amp fuse located in relay box at left front corner of engine compartment. Replace fuse as necessary. If fusible link and 10-amp fuse are okay, check harness and connectors between relay, fuse and battery.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect radiator fan motor harness connector. Check continuity between radiator fan sub-relay terminal No. 5 (Blue wire) and radiator fan motor harness connector Blue wire terminal. Continuity should exist. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open harness or connector.
  4. Disconnect ECM harness connector. ECM is located behind glove box. Check continuity between ECM harness connector terminal No. 6 (White wire) and radiator fan sub-relay harness connector terminal No. 1 (White wire). Continuity should exist. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open harness or connectors.
  5. Check radiator fan sub-relay. See RELAYS  under RELAYS & SOLENOIDS. Replace relay as necessary. If sub-relay is okay, check fan motor. See RADIATOR FAN MOTOR TEST  . Replace motor as necessary. If fan motor is okay, check ECM terminals, harness, and connector terminals for damage, corrosion or improper connection. Repair or replace as necessary.
