Neutral Position Switch System Test

  1. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ECM harness connector terminal No. 44 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. Move shift lever through gears. In Neutral position, zero volts should be present. In all other positions, approximately 5 volts should be present. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, system is functioning properly.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM and Neutral position switch harness connectors. Check continuity between ECM harness connector terminal No. 44 (Yellow/Blue wire) and Neutral position switch harness connector (Yellow/Green wire). Continuity should exist. If continuity does not exist, repair open wire(s) or connectors. If continuity exists, check Neutral position switch. See NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  .
