DTC 35: EGR Temperature Sensor
- Check Input Signal
Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Measure voltage between ECM terminal No. 39 and ground. See Figure
and Fig 2
. Voltage should be less than 4.5 volts. If voltage is correct, go to next step. If voltage is not correct, go to step 3).
- Check Circuit Continuity
Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM and EGR temperature sensor wiring harness connector. See Figure
and Fig 1
. Check continuity between ECM connector terminal No. 39 and EGR temperature sensor connector terminal "a" (Orange/Black wire). See Figure
and Fig 3
.If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors as necessary.
- Check Component
Inspect EGR temperature sensor. See SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS
article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Replace EGR temperature sensor if necessary, and perform FINAL CHECK in this article. If EGR temperature sensor is okay, repair ECM pin terminals and/or wiring harness connector.
- Check Ground Circuit
Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM and EGR temperature sensor wiring harness connector. See Figure
and Fig 1
. Check continuity between ECM connector terminal No. 30 and EGR temperature sensor connector terminal "b" (Black wire). See Figure
and Fig 4
.If continuity is present, repair ECM pin terminals and/or wiring harness connector, and perform FINAL CHECK in this article. If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors as necessary.
