DTC 35: EGR Temperature Sensor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1993 Nissan Maxima. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check Power Supply - Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Measure voltage between ECM terminal No. 39 and ground. See Figure and Fig 2 . Voltage should be one volt or more when no vacuum is supplied to EGR valve. Voltage should be less than one volt when vacuum is applied to EGR valve. If voltage is correct, go to next step. If voltage is not correct, go to step 4).
- Check Circuit Continuity - Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM. See Figure . Disconnect EGR temperature sensor wiring harness connector. See Fig 1 . Check continuity between ECM connector terminal No. 39 and EGR temperature sensor connector terminal "a". See Figure and Fig 3 . If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors as necessary.
- Check Component - Inspect EGR temperature sensor. See I - SYS/COMP TESTS article. Replace EGR temperature sensor if necessary, and perform FINAL CHECK in this article.
- Check Ground Circuit - Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM and EGR temperature sensor wiring harness connector. See Figure and Fig 1 . Check continuity between ECM connector terminal No. 30 and EGR temperature sensor connector terminal "b". See Fig 4 . If continuity is present, circuit is okay. Reconnect all connectors and perform FINAL CHECK in this article. If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors as necessary.
