1. YES: Go to Step 3.
2. NO: Repair the CAN bus line. (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ). On completion, go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Diagnostic trouble code recheck after resetting CAN bus lines
Q: Is diagnostic trouble code No. C1707 stored?
1. YES: Go to Step 3.
2. NO: This diagnosis is complete.
STEP 3. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
Check whether a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the ETACS-ECU (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).

Q: Is the diagnostic trouble code stored?
1. YES: Follow the relevant diagnostic trouble code procedure. Then go to Step 6.
2. NO: Go to Step 4.
STEP 4. ETACS-ECU coding data check
Using scan tool MB991958, check if any abnormality is present to the coding data which are stored in the ETACS-ECU. (Refer to CODING REFERENCE TABLE .)

Q: Is the check result normal?
1. YES: Go to Step 5.
2. NO: Replace ETACS-ECU. (Refer to ETACS-ECU .) Then go to Step 6.
STEP 5. Check part number of ASC-ECU
Check the part number of ASC-ECU.

Q: Is the check result normal?
1. YES: Go to Step 6.
2. NO: Replace the hydraulic unit (integrated with ASC-ECU). (Refer to HYDRAULIC UNIT .)
STEP 6. Diagnostic trouble code recheck
Check again if the diagnostic trouble code is stored.
1. Erase the stored diagnostic trouble code.
2. Ignition switch: "LOCK" (OFF)
3. Ignition switch: "ON"
Q: Is diagnostic trouble code No. C1707 stored?
1. YES: Replace the hydraulic unit (integrated with ASC-ECU). (Refer to HYDRAULIC UNIT .)
2. NO: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
