When Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824 is used

Check that the doors lock normally when the key is used.
Insert the ignition key.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824, always turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824.
Connect Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824 to the data link connector.

Within 10 seconds after turning the Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) power supply switch to the "ON" position, press the hazard warning light switch six times.
NOTE: When the hazard warning light switch has been pressed six times, the ETACS-ECU locks and unlocks the doors and the liftgate automatically once. The ETACS-ECU is ready to register an encrypted code.

NOTE: The hazard warning light switch is a toggle switch.
Press the transmitter switch, and then press it two times within 10 seconds of the first press. This will register the code.

When the encrypted code has been registered, the ETACS-ECU locks and unlocks the doors and the liftgate automatically once.
If you are using two or more transmitters or have added a second transmitter, the same registration procedure should be carried out within one minute after completing step 4.
Check whether the transmitter encrypted code has been registered in the ETACS-ECU.
Connect Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824 to the data link connector. If the transmitter lock or unlock switch is pressed, Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824 should sound once.

NOTE: If Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824 does not sound, the transmitter encrypted code has not been registered yet. Register the encrypted code again.

NOTE: If the code registration is difficult, refer to SWS DIAGNOSIS .
Registration mode will be canceled under the following conditions:
- When the secret code for four transmitters has been registered;
- When one minute has passed after registration mode started;
- When Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) MB991824 is disconnected;
- When the key is removed from the key cylinder;
After the registration is completed, remove the ignition key and close all the doors, and then check that the keyless entry system operates normally.
