DTC 11: Transponder Communication System Or Radio Interference Of Encrypted Code

NOTE: DTC 11 is always output together with MFI system DTC P1610.
  1. Attempt to operate ignition switch with spare ignition key. If vehicle starts, replace key that does not work. Register encrypted code. See KEY ID REGISTRATION  under PROGRAMMING. Ensure DTC 11 does not reset. If DTC 11 resets or spare key does not work, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove steering column cover retaining screws, then remove column upper and lower covers. Measure resistance across ignition key ring antenna by backprobing key ring antenna connector D-201 terminals No. 1 (White/Red wire) and No. 2 (Black/Red wire). If resistance is more than 2 ohms, replace ignition key ring antenna. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article under ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect immobilizer-ECU connector D-121. Inspect connector for corroded or damaged terminals. Repair as necessary, then retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  4. Check wiring between immobilizer-ECU and key ring antenna. Check wiring for open or short circuits. Repair wiring as necessary, then retest system for normal operation. If wiring is okay, and problem still exists, replace immobilizer-ECU. See IMMOBILIZER-ECU  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Register encrypted code, see KEY ID REGISTRATION  under PROGRAMMING. Retest system for normal operation.
