Inspection Procedure N-4: Panic Alarm Function Does Not Work: Diagnosis

Check Keyless Entry System - Does keyless entry system work normally?
- YES : Go to next step.
- NO : Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE E-1: KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM: KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM DOES NOT OPERATE .
Check Input Signal (By Using The Pulse Check) - Check the input signals from the transmitter "PANIC" switch.
1. Connect scan tool MB991502 to the data link connector. See Figure.
2. When the transmitter "PANIC" switch is operated (turned on), check that scan tool MB991502 sounds.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to scan tool MB991502, always turn ignition switch to LOCK (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991502.
Does scan tool MB991502 sound when transmitter PANIC switch is operated?
- YES : Replace ETACS-ECU. Check that panic alarm works normally.
- NO : Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE P-13: TRANSMITTER: ETACS-ECU DOES NOT RECEIVE ANY SIGNAL FROM LOCK, UNLOCK, PANIC OR TRUNK SWITCH .
