Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

  1. Disconnect TP sensor connector. Check resistance between TP sensor connector (component side) terminals No. 1 and 4. Resistance should be 3500-6500 ohms.
  2. While slowly opening throttle valve, check resistance between TP sensor connector terminals No. 3 and 4 (Diamante), No. 1 and 4 (Mirage) or No. 1 and 3 (all except Diamante and Mirage). Resistance should change smoothly in proportion to opening angle of throttle valve. Replace TP sensor as necessary. For TP sensor adjustment procedures, see TP SENSOR ADJUSTMENT under THROTTLE POSITION & ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSORS in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
