Purge Control Valve (Turbo)

  1. Label and disconnect vacuum hoses from purge control valve. Valve is located under battery on Eclipse and near evaporation canister on Galant. Remove purge control valve. Connect a hand vacuum pump to nipple of valve where Red-striped hose was connected (control diaphragm). Apply 15.7 in. Hg to control diaphragm. If valve does not hold vacuum, replace valve.
  2. Blow air through purge passageway (blow through side leading to purge canister). If passageway is open with no vacuum applied to control diaphragm, replace purge control valve.
  3. Connect hand vacuum pump to nipple where Black hose was connected. Apply 15.7 in. Hg to control diaphragm. If valve does not hold vacuum, replace valve.
