Secondary Air Control Solenoid Valve

  1. Mark vacuum hoses for reassembly. Disconnect vacuum hoses from device box. See Fig 1. Disconnect electrical connector. Connect a hand vacuum pump to valve nipple that held Red-striped vacuum hose.
  2. Apply vacuum. Vacuum should hold. Apply battery voltage to connector terminals No. 2 and 3. See Fig 1. Vacuum should bleed down through vacuum nipple that held Green-striped vacuum hose.
  3. Cover Green-striped vacuum hose nipple with finger. Apply vacuum. Vacuum should hold. Connect ohmmeter between connector terminals No. 2 and 3. See Fig 1. Solenoid coil resistance reading should be 36-44 ohms at 68°F (20°C).
