SERVICE ACTION: LOCK THE DME FAULT MEMORY

Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

This Service Action involves approximately 5,110 vehicles produced from March 16, 2018 to August 27, 2018.

Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as "Open" when checked either in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.

SITUATION

The fault memory lock in Digital Motor Electronics (DME) control unit was not activated. This lock should prevent the manual deletion of permanent fault codes.

CAUSE

The DME fault memory lock has not been set.

CORRECTION

Lock the fault memory using ISTA 4.14.2x or higher.

PROCEDURE

Lock the DME fault memory by performing the following test plan

Select:

Service functions
Drive
Engine Electronics
Adjustment programs
Engine control unit locking status:
Perform ABL: "Checking the locking status of the engine control unit"

Once the ABL has been started, select "Carry out the vehicle check" and follow the on screen instructions.
