Air recirculation function

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2016 MINI Cooper Countryman, 2015 MINI Cooper Countryman, 2014 MINI Cooper Countryman, 2013 MINI Cooper, and 2012 MINI Cooper. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

In the recirculated air mode, in the event of a high pollutant load, e.g. in a traffic jam, the supply of fresh air can be blocked. When the air recirculation function is active, oxygen levels are run-down in the passenger compartment. After a while this can increase the relative humidity in the passenger compartment and cause misting. To ensure a sufficient fresh air supply, the air recirculation function is limited to a certain duration (e.g. 15 minutes air recirculation function -> 30 seconds partial fresh-air mode -> 15 minutes air recirculation function -> etc.).

Depending on the series and version, the ambient temperature is also considered for the air recirculation function.

Example:

The air recirculation function is activated when the air recirculation button on the control panel is pressed. This closes the fresh air/recirculated air flap. The refrigerant circuit does not have to be activated.
