SUBJECT
"Comfort Access Restricted" Check Control Message is Displayed
SITUATION
- "Comfort Access Restricted" CCM (Check Control Message) is permanently displayed. The CCM ID: D0h.
- The comfort access is functioning correctly.
- No comfort access aerial fault codes stored in the BDC (Body Domain Controller).
CAUSE
Software error in the BDC
CORRECTION
Program the vehicle with ISTA/P 3.59.0 or higher, and I-Level

PROCEDURE
In the event of a customer complaint, perform the following procedure.
- Confirm the above situation, run diagnosis with ISTA/D and work through the corresponding test module reading check control history memory.
- Program vehicle with ISTA/P 3.59.0 or higher (available July 2016).
If ISTA/P 3.59.0 is not yet available, the BDC must be reset using the following procedure:
- Perform vehicle test.
- Select the "BDC" control unit in the control unit tree.
- Select "Call control unit functions".
- Select the "Component activation" tab.
- Select "Reset control unit" and then "Activate component".
"Control unit reset was carried out" should appear on the right-hand side.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software. For information on programming and coding with ISTA/P, refer to CenterNet / Aftersales Portal / Service / Workshop Technology / Vehicle Programming.
Always connect a BMW approved battery charger / power supply (SI M04 08 09 ) .

Vehicle Programming and Encoding
If a control module was working properly and it fails to program correctly or requires initialization, please claim this additional work with the applicable KSD2 labor operations under the defect code listed above.
The diagnosis and repair of vehicles "arriving" with failed control modules or stored faults which will cause them to fail during programming cannot be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin.

If other eligible and covered work is performed "prior" to programming and coding the vehicle, claim this work with the applicable defect code and labor operations listed in KSD2.
