SUBJECT
Engine Power Reduction with Electrical Wastegate Faults Stored
SITUATION
The Service Engine Soon (MIL) light is on, along with a check control message for engine power reduction.
The following faults can sporadically be stored in the DME:
B38M
- 123431 - Electric wastegate, adaptation: Limit position open implausible
- 123432 - Electric wastegate, adaptation: Limit position closed implausible
B48M
- 123433 - Electric wastegate, adaptation: Adjustment range implausible
The following fault can also be stored in either engine as a result of the engine power reduction:
- 120408 - Charging pressure control: Switch-off, pressure build-up blocked
CAUSE
DME diagnostic software
PROCEDURE
Do not replace any parts, or attempt to adjust the wastegate as noted in the test plan. This ISTA error will be corrected with the 3.50 release, planned in June 2015.
Program the vehicle using the latest version of ISTA/P.
| F55, F56 with the B38M engine | Target integration level: F056-15-03-503 or higher |
| F55, F56 with the B48M engine | Target integration level: F056-14-03-500 or higher |
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
For information on programming and coding with ISTA/P, refer to CenterNet/Aftersales Portal/Service/Workshop Technology/Vehicle Programming.
Always connect a MINI approved battery charger/power supply (SI M04 08 09 ).
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Covered under the terms of the MINI New Passenger Car Limited Warranty or the MINI NEXT Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty.
The MINI NEXT Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty applies to MINI vehicles that have and are still within the MINI NEXT coverage period, but beyond Emissions Warranty coverage that applies.

If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead.
Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowanced.
Work time labor operation code 61 00 006 is not considered a Main labor operation. However, it does require an individual punch time and an explanation on the repair order and in the claim comments section.
Vehicle Programming and Encoding
If a vehicle control module or component was working properly and/or had no related faults stored prior to vehicle programming and it fails to program correctly and/or requires initialization, this additional work must be claimed with separate labor operations (refer to KSD2) under the defect code listed above.
Repairs to address control modules and/or components with pre-existing conditions are not eligible to be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin.
