MINI: F54 (Clubman) from 7/1/2015 to 11/1/2015; F55 (Hardtop 4 door) from 7/1/2014 to 11/1/2015; F56 (Hardtop 2 door) from 11/1/2013 to 11/1/2015; This bulletin is only for vehicles produced with either SA609 NBT Head Unit or SA663/SA606 Entry Head Unit AND; Equipped with SA655 Satellite Radio

SUBJECT

NBT and Entry Head Unit Software Update for Improved Satellite Radio Reception 

SITUATION

Poor Satellite Radio reception

CAUSE

After this software update there is a slight improvement in Satellite Radio reception for these vehicles when receiving their signal from XM Satellites. This is due to the changeover from Sirius Satellite broadcasting to XM Satellite broadcasting in 2016 (See SI  M65 01 16  ).

PROCEDURE

After this software update there is a slight improvement in Satellite Radio reception for these vehicles when receiving their signal from XM Satellites. This is due to the changeover from Sirius Satellite broadcasting to XM Satellite broadcasting in 2016 (See SI M65 01 16 ).

    1. This bulletin applies to the vehicle by option code & production date.
    2. Vehicle is at an I-Level older than 15-11-501
    3. There are no relevant faults

Always connect a MINI approved battery charger / power supply (SI  M04 08 09  )  .

  1. 4. Explain to customer the Satellite broadcasting network change as per SI M65 01 16 and that this software update only offers a minimal improvement in reception. Any further customer complaints with XM Satellite reception should be reported to MINI as per that SIM. The only possible further improvement in the customers reception would come IF Sirius/XM installs ground based repeaters in the problem area

00 00 006 Refer to KSD2 Performing "vehicle test" (with vehicle diagnosis system - checking faults)
And:
61 21 528 Refer to KSD2 Connect an approved battery charger/power supply (indicated in KSD2 as "Charging battery")
And:
61 00 730 Refer to KSD2 Programming / encoding control unit(s)

If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.

Vehicle Programming and Encoding

If a control module was working properly and it fails to program correctly or requires initialization, please claim this additional work with the applicable KSD2 labor operations under the defect code listed above.

The diagnosis and repair of vehicles "arriving" with failed control modules or stored faults which will cause them to fail during programming cannot be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin.

Other Repairs

If other eligible and covered work is performed "prior" to programming and coding the vehicle, claim this work with the applicable defect code and labor operations listed in KSD2.
