Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop.
SUBJECT
Service Action: CBS Incorrect After Instrument Cluster Replacement
SITUATION
Vehicles which have had the Instrument Cluster (KOMBI) replaced may display incorrect CBS (Condition Based Service) data after programming.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as "Open" when checked either in the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.
CAUSE
Incorrect SW calibration loaded after KOMBI replacement.
CORRECTION
Check the CBS data and if necessary correct as needed. Brake fluid service should be performed if the vehicle is overdue by time.
PROCEDURE
- Check the displayed CBS data in the vehicle and compare to the key read.
The following CBS values may be incorrect:
- Vehicle Check date (48 months or 40,000 miles)
- Emissions Inspection date (varies by state)
- State Safety Inspection date (varies by state)
- Brake Fluid service date (36 months initial. 24 months subsequent)
- If any of these CBS dates are incorrect please perform the CBS correction test plan. Using ISTA, select "Activities"/"Service Function"/"CBS correction, vehicle data", then run the test plan to correct the relevant CBS value.
- If the brake fluid service is due, or if the data for the last brake fluid service can no longer be pulled up then a brake fluid service must be carried out.
