66 31 001 Adjust ACC sensor

Special tools required: 

Special tool required: 

Active Cruise Control ACC adjusting device, complete.

Order number: 81 10 0 021 292

Consisting of:

  1. Mirror, complete
  2. Wheel laser
  3. Slotted diaphragm
  4. Control holder (for initial installation of rail)

  6. Setup and Operating Instructions (not shown)
NOTE: A mounting which is not included in the delivery specification is required to support the wheel laser. Use either the quick-action clamp from the existing KDS or ACC wheel holder (36 1 100 ).
NOTE:
NOTE: To set the ACC sensor, connect the BMW diagnosis system and fit the ACC adjusting device.
Select ACC calibration in diagnosis.
  • Service function
    • Chassis and suspension
      • ACC cruise control
        • Start-up of ACC sensor

Handle ACC adjusting device in accordance with mounting and Owner's Handbook provided with device.

If a correction angle is specified via the diagnosis, the following operations can be performed to obtain a maximum angle correction of ± 1°.

Loosen, but to not remove, screws (1 and 2) at the marked locations.

Installation note: 

Tighten screws (2) followed by screws (1).

Tightening torque 66 31 2AZ .

Output of a negative correction angle: 

Turn holder ACC (1) clockwise (arrow 2) all the way.

Output of a positive correction angle: 

Turn holder ACC (1) anticlockwise (arrow 3) all the way.

The following step must be taken if there is an "Incorrectly adjusted sensor" fault entry or there is a suspicion of frontal damage.

IMPORTANT: The vehicle must be parked on a flat, horizontal  surface!
NOTE: For purposes of clarity, graphic shows holder (1) removed.

Hold square (2) against holder (1) as shown.

Limit stop leg length: approx. 105 mm

Check vertical orientation in direction of travel with bubble level (3).

Replace holder if necessary.
