SUBJECT

ATEQ VT-55 Tire Pressure Monitoring System Diagnostic Tool 

SITUATION

The ATEQ VT-55 diagnostic tool complements ISTA when diagnosing a TPMS fault. This tool can be used in the service drive, for example, to help determine to what extent the fault needs to be diagnosed further (helping workshop scheduling).

When a tire with low pressure is found, verify there are no leaks. If there is a fault in the TPMS beyond a tire pressure top-up, continue diagnosis using ISTA.

The VT-55 has a "Key FOB Test" in the main menu. When you select this test, the VT-55 will display the signal strength of the Key FOB door unlock button. The operation is displayed using a sliding scale for strength. The VT-55 will also display the signal MHz (frequency) that it receives when the button is pressed. This test is primarily for the door unlock button. The VT-55 Key FOB Test should not be used as a final determination. Final determination of a Key FOB error must be through ISTA.

It is very important to use the update software function in the VT-55 at least once a week. Periodic software updates will give you the latest TPMS sensor data. The current software update includes RDCI sensors installed on many 2015 vehicles. Directions for performing the software update function are included in the VT-55 manual.

Distribution of the following TPMS tool will not be through the Automatic Tool Shipment Program. Tools may be purchased through the BMW Group Equipment Program (888-222-7997).
