SUBJECT

Brake Fluid Maintenance Service: 36-Month Interval

SITUATION

The CBS displays the first brake fluid service as a 36-month interval from the date of production, instead of the appropriate 24-month interval.

Only vehicles within the specified production range can be serviced and covered by this bulletin.

For vehicles outside of the production range specified in this bulletin, refer to the CBS and/or Key Read information for the brake fluid service.

CORRECTION

There is no software solution for this issue.

If an affected vehicle is at your dealer:

Perform the first brake fluid service and the "combined" microfilter service based on the 24-month interval, even though CBS is not showing it as either Recommended or Due.

Example - Vehicle produced 2/20/2012

Applying the 24-month interval, the "Remaining/Due in" date should have been 2/2014.

The "Include range" makes this vehicle's brake fluid service "Recommended" and eligible to be performed on or after 11/2013.

After resetting the CBS data, all future services will then be based on a 24-month interval from the date of the last CBS reset.

NOTE: Applicable MINI vehicles produced as of July 2013 are excluded from the correction procedure noted in this Service Information bulletin.
