SUBJECT

IHKA Intermittently Doesn't Switch On 

SITUATION

Intermittently the IHKA does not switch on until the ignition is cycled.

CAUSE

Poor ground

PROCEDURE

  1. Identify the ground wire (pin 26.5 BR/SW) from IHKA control module connector X610.
  2. This wire is routed through 2 separate splice points.
  3. Route a dedicated ground wire to ground point X13230 located near the drivers door-opening sill.
  4. Retest the system for proper operation.

No additional IHKA control modules are needed for analysis. Do not replace any parts.
