Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor: Notes

MATERIAL SPECIFICATION

Item Specification 
SAE 5W-20 Motorcraft Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil XO-5W20-QSP WSS-M2C153-H
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM .
  2. If removing the camshaft synchronizer, drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  3. If removing the camshaft synchronizer, remove the accessory drive belt.
    • Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise.
    • Push the spring clip toward the belt tensioner to lock the accessory drive belt tensioner in place.

  4. Remove the parts in the order indicated in Fig 3 and table.
    PART REMOVAL SEQUENCE

    Part Steps 
    Camshaft position (CMP) sensor 1-3
    Camshaft synchronizer 1-11

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  6. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
