Lower Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
    • Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control (EGRC) solenoid.
    • Pulse signal generator.
    • Valve body wiring harness.
    • Manual Lever Position (MLP) switch.
    • Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch.
    • Magnetic clutch.
    • Power transistor.
    • A/C high-pressure switch.
    • Fuel injectors.
    • Ignition coil.
    • Temperature gauge sender.
    • Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  2. Remove main wiring harness bracket from intake manifold coolant outlet.
  3. Remove fuel line bracket bolt from EGRC solenoid bracket.
  4. Disconnect coolant bypass hose from intake manifold coolant outlet.
  5. Remove four Allen-head fuel rail bolts and position fuel rail and injectors aside.
  6. Disconnect upper heater hose.
  7. Remove four Allen-head intake manifold bolts and four intake manifold nuts in two steps in sequence, See Fig 1 .

  8. Remove intake manifold from vehicle. Discard gaskets.
