Proper GASKETED Windshield Replacement Technique

  1. Inspect vehicle for any preexisting damage
  2. Protect all vulnerable areas of the vehicle prior to work.
  3. Remove moldings, wipers, cowl and trim from windshield.
  4. Push out damaged windshield. It may break, so be sure eye protection is being worn by the technician.
  5. Inspect and clean inside of gasket channel and sealing flanges [lips].
  6. Set windshield into gasket channel.
  7. Apply lubricant to sealing flange.
  8. Wrap rope around sealing flange.
  9. Position assembly in windshield opening and pull the rope out to seat the flange.
  10. Reinstall wipers, cowl and other devices detached during the glass removal.
  11. Apply water to the windshield to test for leaks.
  12. Inspect and clean vehicle.
