General
The components of the climate control system, which are responsible for air delivery, filtering and temperature control, are located in the air conditioner box (1).
The air conditioner box (1) is located between the instrument panel and the firewall. Depending on the model and equipment, there may be further actuator motors and air flaps in the air conditioner box (1), as well as in the air shafts beneath the center console.
Function requirements
- Circuit 30 t ON
Function
The fresh air or recirculated air is drawn into the air conditioner box by the blower (6) and routed through the activated charcoal fine particle filter (3). In this process, the blower (6) is controlled by the blower regulator (7).
The air mixing flap (11) is used to guide the fresh air or recirculated air and is actuated via the air mixing flap actuator motor (10).
The fresh/recirculated air flap actuator motor (4) actuates the fresh/recirculated air flap (5).
The cleaned air flows through the evaporator (8) and is dried and cooled there; in the process, the temperature of the cleaned air is monitored by the evaporator temperature sensor (9).
In heating mode, the air in the heated heater core (12) is heated up again - if necessary, via the PTC booster heater (13) - and routed to the air outlets in the vehicle interior.
The air is routed either directly to the air outlets in the vehicle interior or further cooled by the air conditioning system beforehand in cooling mode.
The air distribution to the air outlets in the vehicle interior takes place via the central air distribution actuator motor (2) and via the air distribution flap (14).
