Crossover Line Length

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation (FMCSR) 393.65 requires that crossover lines be long and flexible enough to accommodate normal movement of parts to which they are attached without incurring damage. It further requires that they be secured against chafing, kinking, and other causes of mechanical damage.

Crossover line installations must also permit the use of replacement crossover lines which are 3/4 inches longer or shorter without causing the installation to deviate from the recommendations in this Recommended Practice. The length of replacement hoses must be within plus or minus 1/2 inch of the length of the original hose.
