	Remove/install
1	Disconnect ground line at battery		AR54.10-P-0003EW
	Notes on battery		AH54.10-P-0001-01A
2	Remove lower engine compartment paneling		AR61.20-P-1105EW
3	Remove steering coupling	ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 212, 218 with CODE M005 (4MATIC)
			AR46.10-P-8000EW
4	Remove left catalytic converter	ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 212, 218 with CODE M005 (4MATIC)
			AR49.10-P-7100EL
5	Remove heat shield (1)
6	Detach contact protection on circuit 30 electrical line (2)
7	Detach electrical line of circuit 30 (2) at starter (M1)	Nut, connection for terminal designation 30	*BA15.30-P-1001-01J
8	Detach electrical line of circuit 50 (3) at starter (M1)	Nut, connection for terminal designation 50	*BA15.30-P-1002-01J
9	Remove starter (M1) from cylinder crankcase	Bolt, starter to crankcase	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
10	Remove starter (M1) from below
	Check
11	Detach charge air cooler and pull to the front with attached coolant hoses	ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 212 (except 212.095/195), 218
			AR09.41-P-6819ELS
12	Check starter ring gear at flywheel/drive plate for wear and damage	Crank engine at crankshaft center bolt in direction of engine rotation. In a case of a worn or damaged starter ring gear: ↓ Replace flywheel/drive plate

13	Install in the reverse order
