SCN Code the Instrument Cluster Control Module

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles, has determined that the maintenance service interval of 15,000 miles should be reset to 10,000 miles.

An Authorized Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner dealer will SCN code the Instrument Cluster Control Module and inform the vehicle's owner that the maintenance interval will change from 15,000 miles to 10,000 miles at the vehicle's next maintenance interval.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Approximately 4,056. vehicles are affected.

PROCEDURE

NOTE:

Use DAS/Xentry 01-02/2014 with all associated patches or higher or 01-02/2014 release of Fleet Shell (FedEx® and other large fleets only).
Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.
Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).
Ensure all electrical consumers are switched-off.
In the event of software/SCN update issues, contact Star Diagnosis User Help Desk.
Refer to Star Diagnosis System (SDS) Best Practices Guide.

Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.
SCN code instrument cluster:
Control units/Information and communication/KI instrument cluster/Control unit adaptations/SCN coding.
Reset ASSYST maintenance computer:
Control units/Information and communication/KI instrument cluster/ASSYST Active Service System/Oil change/Component Check/Perform Oil Change/ASSYST Active Service System/Reset of maintenance interval display.
The attachment of this campaign contains the revised Maintenance Booklet pages. Print-out these pages and place them in the vehicle's Maintenance Booklet (after informing the customer of the change of maintenance interval).

NOTE:

This campaign should only be performed during the vehicle's next maintenance interval.
If for any reason this campaign is performed before the service is due, the service indicator should NOT be reset.
Refer also to SCN coding of control units; WIS: AR54.21-D-0015X (disregard step: 2.2).
First perform SCN coding and then reset the ASSYST maintenance computer.

NOTE: The following allowable labor operation should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair:
