WSS (Weight Sensing System) control unit, component description - GF91.60-P-4046R
MODEL 230 as of 1.3.06 with CODE (494) USA version
Location
The WS control unit is located on the seat frame of the front passenger seat.
Task
- Evaluation and voltage supply of:
- Belt tension sensor (B48/3)
- Pressure sensor (B48/4)
- Weight categorization of applied weight (adult, object or child seat)
- Provision of weight category on CAN-B
- Save self-test and faults
After detecting occupation of the front passenger seat, the WS control unit uses the data recorded by the pressure sensor and belt tension sensor to determine a weight category for the person, object or child seat.
The weight category data are sent over the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) for precise actuation of the front passenger airbag unit.
