Activated charcoal canister task The pressurization and depressurization of the fuel tank is performed via the activated charcoal canister.
The fuel vapors are stored temporarily.

Activated charcoal canister design Housing filled with activated charcoal granulate. It is divided in different chambers by means of partitions to achieve an optimal flow of the activated charcoal granulates.
For USA ONLY volumes of about 2.7 to 3.5 l.

Activated charcoal canister function The fuel vapors released from the fuel tank (USA ONLY with ORVR or when refueling) are bonded to the activated charcoal granulate. When purging is activated, they are drawn in by the engine and combusted. The activated charcoal granulates are completely regenerated in the ideal case.
