The transmission shift delay is designed to warm up the catalytic converters more rapidly to operating temperature after engine start.
The transmission shift delay is performed completely electronically in combination with the automatic transmission. No additional components are required.
The engine control unit requests from the transmission control unit via the CAN data bus to alter the shift characteristic curves.
The partial load shifts from 1st and 2nd gear into 3rd gear take place at higher engine speeds.
The vehicle speed signal is received by the ESP control unit via the CAN data bus.
The transmission shift delay is active for 160 s max., if the coolant temperature is less than 50°C when starting and at vehicle speeds lower than 53 km/h.
