Front passenger seat occupied recognition sensor, function - GF91.60-P-1100CW

MODEL 204.0/2 except CODE (494) USA version up to Model Year 08 

Function requirements: 

General 

The occupation of the front passenger seat is always read in by the supplemental restraint system (SRS). With code (U18) Automatic child seat recognition (ACSR [AKSE]), the installation of a child seat is detected additionally.

IMPORTANT The automatic child seat recognition is only ensured where a DaimlerChrysler approved and coded child seat is used. This child seat must be equipped with 2 transponders (resonators), which are located in its base on the left and right.

Function sequence 

The front passenger seat occupation status is detected by the front passenger seat occupied recognition (B41/1) (without code (U18) Automatic child seat recognition (ACSR [AKSE])).

The front passenger seat occupation status as well as the automatic child seat recognition are detected by the front passenger seat occupied recognition and ACSR (B48) (with code (U18) Automatic child seat recognition (ACSR [AKSE])). The signals are each forwarded to the supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10).

The following states are defined:

Automatic child seat recognition warning lamp (S6/1e1) 

The signal for switching the automatic child seat recognition warning lamp on when a child seat has been recognized is transmitted by the supplemental restraint system control unit via chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

It switches the automatic child seat recognition warning lamp On or Off via instrument panel LIN.

Error messages 

If the seat occupied and automatic child seat recognition sensor is defective or communication to the supplemental restraint system control unit is interrupted (e.g. plug not connected), then the automatic child seat recognition warning lamp is also switched on. Additionally, a fault is stored in the supplemental restraint system control unit and a corresponding message is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1).

If the child seat is defective or incorrectly positioned (only one resonator detected), the supplemental restraint system indicator lamp (A1e15) in the instrument cluster and the automatic child seat recognition warning lamp are switched on.
