The transfer case actuator motor is screwed into the rear housing half of the transfer case on the left in the direction of travel.

Task

The transfer case actuator motor is actuated by the transfer case control unit (N15/7) via a PWM signal. The transfer case actuator motor actuates either the interaxle differential lock or the "High/Low shift".

IMPORTANT PWM stands for ulse idth odulation. The PWM signal is a digital signal with variable pulse widths (pulse durations).

Design

The transfer case actuator motor is a permanent magnet DC motor with worm gear. Integrated in the transfer case actuator motor are a Hall sensor with direction recognition and an NTC temperature sensor.

IMPORTANT NTC stands for egative emperature oefficient, i.e. its electrical resistance decreases as the temperature rises (NTC thermistor).
