| Electric air pump - task | The electric air pump compresses fresh air and prepares it for air injection into the exhaust ducts. This means that afterburning can occur in the exhaust ducts which brings the catalytic converters more rapidly up to operating temperature. |

| Electric air pump - function | Actuation takes place at the start and a coolant temperature below 20°C by the ME control unit (N3/10) via the corresponding relay. Actuation is limited on durability grounds to a maximum of 2.5 minutes. Delivery rate is a maximum of 40 kg/h. |
