The task of overheating protection is to prevent engine damage caused by thermal overloading.

If the coolant temperature and/or the charge air temperature is too high, the injection quantity is reduced by the CDI control unit according to a performance map.

The following information is processed in the CDI control unit for this purpose:

IMPORTANT If the signal from the coolant temperature sensor is missing, the oil temperature signal from the oil sensor is used (for emergency mode).
