Install Repair Bolt

CAUTION: This procedure requires tensioning and untensioning the front coil springs. Risk of pinching and jamming of body parts when working on pre-loaded components. When loosening or removing components that are under significant load, there is a risk of serious injury, if non-approved clamping devices are used. When conducting repair work on springs, spring bodies, spring-type actuators and other components that are under tension use approved clamping devices only. Use only approved clamping devices; shield off hazard area if necessary. Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear eye protection and protective gloves.
NOTE: The standard bolt (19a) is centered in the shaped hole by means of a hump (arrows). The setting bolt (19c) can be installed in the thread through the slot, on the right or left, allowing the wishbone to be repositioned 3 mm to the inside or outside. See Figure .
NOTE: The setting bolt (19c) must not be turned after being fixed in place with the shims (19d). DO NOT tighten hexagon nut fully at this stage to allow the wishbone rubber bushes to turn when the springs are compressed and rebounded (vehicle has been settled).

When specifications are beyond tolerance and repair bolt is called for, proceed with bolt replacement.

  1. Raise vehicle (the suspension must be fully rebounded).
  2. Tension front coil spring on the relevant side.
  3. Relevant bolt (19a) attaching the lower control arm (wishbone) must be replaced with repair bolt (19c) and shim (19d) for setting the camber and caster. See Figure and Figure .
  4. After installation of repair bolt (19c), refer back to adjustment to complete procedure. Go to step  6 under ADJUSTMENTS.
