Intake Air Temperature Timing Adjustment
The ME-SFI control module will adjust ignition timing to compensate for high intake air temperature temperatures. Ignition timing adjustment begins with engine operating a high load and intake air temperature reaches 95°F (35°C) and reaches its maximum adjustment potential when intake air temperature reaches 149°F (65°C). An example of ignition timing control is:
- Intake air temperature 95°F (35°C) with engine at a high load, ignition timing is retarded 3.5 degrees.
- Intake air temperature 113°F (45°C) with engine at a high load, timing is retarded 6.3 degrees.
- Intake air temperature 149°F (65°C) with engine at a high load, timing is retarded 9.5 degrees.
