21/00-2 GROUP 82 - MY 00 CL, CLK, E, and S CLASS, TELEPHONE: Condition: If upon installation, a telephone and/or voice control system operates only intermittently or not at all, from the voice control push-to-talk (PTT) lever or steering wheel button the instrument cluster module may have improper version coding. Corrective Action: When installing a voice control system and/or telephone, the instrument cluster must be version coded to indicate the presence of these components. The instrument cluster must also be version coded to indicate the presence of the Multifunction Steering Wheel (MFS); this (the MFS coding) should already be properly coded from the factory.
