The fuel tank is located at the front in the trunk above the rear axle.
Design
The fuel tank is made out of sheet steel. Both halves of the tank are welded together.
Function
The fuel pump (M3) takes the fuel through a fuel strainer down and out of the swirl pot.
The swirl pot prevents the fuel pump drawing in air when cornering with a low level of fuel in the tank.
The swirl pot is filled with a suction jet pump (located at the bottom of the swirl pot). The suction jet pump is fed by the fuel return line from the fuel pressure controller.
