DTC P0218-00: Automatic Transmission Protection Control

P0218-00: (TCM) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Automatic transmission protection control
Detection condition
  • The ATF temperature is the standard or more.
Preconditions 
  • Engine is running.
Fail-safe
  • Inhibits learning control.
  • Inhibits manual mode.
  • Inhibits neutral idle control.
  • Cancel the i-stop control.
  • Inhibits AAS.
  • PCM restricts engine torque.
Possible cause
  1. ATF amount is more than specified value. (Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION [EV6A-EL, EV6AX-EL] , or AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION [GW6AX-EL] in service information.)
  2. Oil cooler malfunction (Refer to OIL COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  2. Perform the following procedure to ensure that the DTC has been resolved:
    • Start the engine and wait for 10 s or more.
