Steering Wheel Cover Removal/Installation: Notes

WARNING:

Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the steering shift switch. (With steering shift switch) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL] .)
Using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver, press tabs A of the steering wheel cover in the direction of the arrows shown in the figure to detach tabs A from the steering wheel.

Pull the part of the steering wheel cover near tabs B in the order of (1), (2), (3) and detach them.

Remove the steering wheel cover from the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL COVER INSTALLATION NOTE .)

Remove the wiring harnesses and clips of the steering shift switch from the steering wheel cover. (With steering shift switch) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL] .)
Install in the reverse order of removal.
