Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) Control Module Removal/Installation

NOTE:

The blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module prior to replacement stores the vehicle specification information.
A new blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module does not store any vehicle specification information.
When the ignition is switched ON after the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module is replaced, the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module reads the vehicle specification information sent via CAN transmission from the instrument cluster using the automatic configuration function, and stores it.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the following parts:
1. Rear combination light (See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Rear splash shield (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Rear bumper (See REAR BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Disconnect the connector.

Remove in the order indicated in the table.

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION

3	Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module

Install in the reverse order of removal.
When the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module is replaced, perform the automatic configuration using the following procedure.
1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 min or more.
2. Switch the ignition off and wait for 3 s or more.
3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and complete the blind spot
  monitoring (BSM) control module automatic configuration.
4. Using the M-MDS, verify that DTC U2300:54, U2300:55 or U2300:56 is not displayed.

CAUTION:
- If the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module is replaced, not performing the blind spot monitoring (BSM) radar test will cause a deviation in the radar emission angle which could result in the system not detecting a vehicle approaching from the rear correctly. When the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module is replaced, perform the blind spot monitoring (BSM) radar test.
