Liftgate Hinge Removal/Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Liftgate upper trim (See LIFTGATE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Liftgate (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Assist handle (Rear) (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Rear seat back (See REAR SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Trunk board (with trunk board) (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Bass-box (with Bose ®) (See BASS-BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. Trunk box (See TRUNK BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    11. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    12. Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    13. Rear seat back (See REAR SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    14. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    15. Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Peel back the seaming welt of the rear door and the liftgate.

  4. Remove the fasteners.
    CAUTION:
    • If the headliner is peeled back excessively, the headliner could become creased. Be careful not to peel back the headliner excessively.
  5. While partially peeling back the rear part of the headliner, remove the nut.

  6. Remove the liftgate hinge.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  8. Adjust the liftgate. (See LIFTGATE ADJUSTMENT .)
