Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Removal/Installation - 2.5L: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist. See LIFTING .
  2. Remove the 5 bolts, the pin-type retainer (not shown in illustration) and the RH splash shield.

  3. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the hole in the crankshaft pulley is in the 3 o'clock position.

  4. Remove the engine plug bolt.

  5. Install the Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg and turn the crankshaft clockwise until the crankshaft contacts the Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg.
    NOTE:
    • When the crankshaft contacts the Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg, the No. 1 cylinder will be at top dead center (TDC).

  6. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  7. Remove the bolts and the CKP sensor.
